Terms
Effective · [settled before launch]
Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer. The text describes what the system actually does today; [settled before launch] marks facts not yet fixed.
The Korean text is the original; where a translation differs, the Korean text prevails.
Article 1 — Purpose
These terms govern the Kallimachos cloud service (the "Service") provided by [settled before launch] (the "Operator"): the conditions of use and the rights, duties and responsibilities of both sides.
Article 2 — Definitions
- "Service" — the hosted service at
https://app.kallimachos.devandhttps://mcp.kallimachos.dev: accounts, storage of knowledge data, remote MCP. - "Software" — kal, published at https://github.com/HwangTaehyun/kallimachos under AGPL-3.0. Installing and running it yourself is governed by that license, not these terms, and is free.
- "Knowledge data" — the search index and knowledge graph you build with the Software on your own machine and upload to the Service.
- "credential" — the per-user secret URL (token) used for remote MCP and uploads.
Article 3 — Effect and changes
These terms take effect when posted in the Service. The Operator may change them within the law; changes are announced 7 days in advance on this page and by account email, 30 days in advance if they are unfavorable to you. Continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance. If you do not accept, you may delete your account.
Article 4 — Accounts
- One account per email address. The first sign-in creates the account; there is no separate signup.
- You must be at least 14 years old.
- Sign-in links and credentials are passwords. Keep them to yourself; if you suspect a leak, revoke and recreate them in the app immediately. Damage caused by your own failure to protect them is yours.
- You can delete your account at any time from the account menu.
Article 5 — What the Service does
- It stores the knowledge data you upload and lets your own AI clients (claude.ai · Claude Code · ChatGPT · Gemini and others) search it over remote MCP.
- Extraction runs on your machine, in the Software. The Operator never calls an LLM on the server and does not pay for your LLM usage.
- The Service never receives your original notes. What is uploaded is listed in Article 1 of the Privacy Policy.
- The accuracy of answers produced by an AI client depends on that client and on your knowledge data; the Operator does not warrant it.
Article 6 — Fees and payment
- Fees are those shown on the pricing page, in US dollars. Residents of Korea are charged 10% VAT.
- The cloud plan is billed monthly ($19/month) or yearly ($15/month, $180 charged at once).
- Subscriptions renew automatically on the same terms at the end of each period and are charged to the payment method on file. Cancel before the period ends if you do not want to renew.
- Payments are handled by the payment processor; the Operator stores no payment details.
- Free self-hosting carries no fee. Whether anything is held back from the free build is decided before the first release; when it is, it will be stated here and on the pricing page.
Article 7 — Price changes
- Price increases are announced 60 days before they take effect.
- During the notice period you may prepay (yearly) at the old price.
- Existing subscribers keep the old price for at least 12 months from the announcement.
Article 8 — Cancellation, withdrawal and refunds
- You may cancel at any time from the plans screen. The Service stays available until the paid period ends; after that, remote MCP stops and the uploaded knowledge data becomes unreachable. Self-hosting is unaffected.
- Under Article 17 of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce you may withdraw within 7 days of payment for a full refund. If within that window you actually used the Service — uploaded knowledge data or called remote MCP — withdrawal may be limited under paragraph 2 of that article; this is stated before payment.
- A yearly subscription canceled mid-term is refunded pro rata for the unused full months. A monthly subscription is not refunded for the month already paid.
- Refunds go to the original payment method within 3 business days of the request. The procedure and per-case rules are on the refund policy page.
Article 9 — Your obligations
- Comply with the law and these terms.
- Do not upload material that infringes others' rights or violates the law.
- Do not circumvent the Service's technical protections or disrupt it with excessive automated requests.
- Do not transfer or share credentials with third parties.
Article 10 — Rights in knowledge data
- Knowledge data belongs to you. The Operator stores and transmits it only as needed to provide the Service and never uses it for other purposes or provides it to third parties.
- The Operator does not read your knowledge data. Where incident response makes it unavoidable, access is kept to the minimum necessary.
- Deleting your account erases the knowledge data immediately. The original stays on your machine, so you can upload it again at any time.
Article 11 — Service level
The Service is run by one person. No uptime or response time is guaranteed (there is no service level agreement); planned downtime is announced in advance. If the Service does not meet your needs you can run the same Software yourself — that is why it is open source.
Article 12 — Disclaimers and limitation of liability
- The Software is provided without warranty of any kind, as its AGPL-3.0 license states.
- The Operator is not liable for damage caused by events beyond its control — natural disasters, network outages, or failures of third parties such as the payment processor or hosting provider.
- Unless the Operator acted intentionally or with gross negligence, its liability in connection with the Service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the damage occurred.
- Nothing in this article limits rights that consumer law guarantees you.
Article 13 — Suspension and termination
If you breach Article 9 the Operator will ask you to remedy it; if you do not, or the breach is serious, the Operator may restrict use or terminate the account. Fees for the unused remainder of a paid period are refunded as in Article 8.
Article 14 — Ending the Service
If the Operator shuts the Service down, notice is given 90 days in advance on this page and by account email, and fees for any period after the shutdown date are refunded. The original of your knowledge data is on your machine, so it is not lost.
Article 15 — Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes are heard by the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.
