Terms

Article 1 — Purpose
These terms govern the Kallimachos cloud service (the "Service") provided by BeM (sole proprietor: Taehyun Hwang) (the "Operator"): the conditions of use and the rights, duties and responsibilities of both sides.
Article 2 — Definitions
- "Service" — the hosted service at
https://app.kallimachos.devandhttps://mcp.kallimachos.dev: accounts, storage of knowledge data, remote MCP. - "Software" — kal, published at https://github.com/HwangTaehyun/kallimachos under AGPL-3.0. Installing and running it yourself is governed by that license, not these terms, and is free.
- "Knowledge data" — the search index and knowledge graph you build with the Software on your own machine and upload to the Service, and the photos and videos you push to it. The Service keeps them for viewing: keep your own originals.
- "credential" — the per-user secret URL (token) used for remote MCP and uploads.
Article 3 — Effect and changes
These terms take effect when posted in the Service. The Operator may change them within the law; changes are announced 7 days in advance on this page and by account email, 30 days in advance if they are unfavorable to you. Continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance. If you do not accept, you may delete your account.
Article 4 — Accounts
- One account per email address. The first sign-in creates the account; there is no separate signup.
- You must be at least 14 years old.
- Sign-in links and credentials are passwords. Keep them to yourself; if you suspect a leak, revoke and recreate them in the app immediately. Damage caused by your own failure to protect them is yours.
- You can delete your account at any time from the account menu.
Article 5 — What the Service does
- It stores the knowledge data you upload and lets your own AI clients (claude.ai · Claude Code · Codex and others) search it over remote MCP.
- Extraction runs on your machine, in the Software. The Operator never calls an LLM on the server and does not pay for your LLM usage.
- The Service does not receive your original notes unless you connect a GitHub repository, in which case it keeps a copy of that repository to build your index. What is uploaded is listed in Article 1 of the Privacy Policy.
- The accuracy of answers produced by an AI client depends on that client and on your knowledge data; the Operator does not warrant it.
Article 6 — Plans, free trial, fees and payment
- There are two plans: Hobby, which is free, and Cloud, which is paid.
- On Hobby: remote MCP is limited to 2,000 tool calls per calendar month (UTC), and further calls in that month are refused; a graph upload may be up to 100 MB; new photos and videos cannot be uploaded; the session archive is off (no uploads or downloads, but you can delete what is stored); repository graphs stop and repository MCP tokens are refused. The graph you uploaded stays stored and searchable over remote MCP. Photos and videos you uploaded earlier stay viewable in the app, but not over remote MCP.
- On Cloud: remote MCP tool calls are unlimited, a graph upload may be up to 1 GB, and photos and videos, the session archive and GitHub repository graphs are available.
- Free trial: every new account gets Cloud for 14 days without a card. When the trial ends the account moves to Hobby automatically: nothing is charged and there is nothing to cancel. Signing up again with the same email address after deleting the account does not start a new trial within one year after the earlier trial ended.
- Fees are those shown on the pricing page, in US dollars. For residents of Korea the price shown includes 10% VAT.
- The cloud plan is billed monthly ($15/month) or yearly ($10/month, $120 charged at once).
- Subscriptions renew automatically on the same terms at the end of each period and are charged to the payment method on file. Cancel before the period ends if you do not want to renew.
- Payments are taken by Paddle, which sells the subscription to you as merchant of record; the Operator stores no payment details.
- Free self-hosting carries no fee. Held back from the free build: nothing — the free build has every feature of the local product.
Article 7 — Price changes
- Price increases are announced 60 days before they take effect.
- During the notice period you may prepay (yearly) at the old price.
- Existing subscribers keep the old price for at least 12 months from the announcement.
Article 8 — Cancellation, withdrawal and refunds
- You may cancel Cloud at any time from the plans screen. Cloud stays in effect until the end of the paid period; after that the account is on the free Hobby plan with the limits in Article 6: remote MCP limited to 2,000 tool calls a month, graph uploads up to 100 MB, no new photos or videos, the session archive off, and repository graphs stopped. The graph you uploaded stays stored and searchable over remote MCP. Self-hosting is unaffected.
- Cancelling does not erase anything. Data is erased only when you delete the account (account menu → “Delete account”). On deletion the server first cancels any Paddle subscription — if that fails, nothing is deleted and you are asked to try again; then it erases the graph, the session archive, photos and videos, and repository copies; then it erases the account. If erasing that data fails after the subscription was canceled, the account remains with its subscription already canceled, and deleting again continues from there. Deleting the account ends Cloud immediately. The Operator then issues a refund: a yearly subscription is refunded for the unused full months, and a deletion within the 7-day withdrawal window is refunded as a withdrawal unless withdrawal is limited as described in this article.
- Under Article 17 of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce you may withdraw within 7 days of payment for a full refund. If within that window you actually used the Service — uploaded knowledge data or called remote MCP — withdrawal may be limited under paragraph 2 of Article 17 of the Act; this is stated before payment. After a withdrawal, Cloud ends when the refund is processed, and the account moves to Hobby.
- A yearly subscription canceled mid-term is refunded pro rata for the unused full months; Cloud ends when the refund is processed, and the account moves to Hobby. A monthly subscription is not refunded for the month already paid, except where the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce gives you a broader right.
- Refunds go to the original payment method. We submit the refund to the payment provider within 3 business days of the request; it takes effect once the provider approves it; while it is pending, Cloud stays available (except after account deletion, which ends Cloud immediately). The procedure and per-case rules are on the refund policy page.
Article 9 — Your obligations
- Comply with the law and these terms.
- Do not upload material that infringes others' rights or violates the law.
- Do not circumvent the Service's technical protections or disrupt it with excessive automated requests.
- Do not transfer or share credentials with third parties.
Article 10 — Rights in knowledge data
- Knowledge data belongs to you. The Operator stores and transmits it only as needed to provide the Service and never uses it for other purposes or provides it to third parties.
- The Operator does not read your knowledge data. Where incident response makes it unavoidable, access is kept to the minimum necessary.
- Deleting your account erases the knowledge data immediately. The original stays on your machine, so you can upload it again at any time.
Article 11 — Service level
The Service is run by one person. No uptime or response time is guaranteed (there is no service level agreement); planned downtime is announced in advance. If the Service does not meet your needs you can run the same Software yourself — that is why it is open source.
Article 12 — Disclaimers and limitation of liability
- The Software is provided without warranty of any kind, as its AGPL-3.0 license states.
- The Operator is not liable for damage caused by events beyond its control — natural disasters, network outages, or failures of third parties such as the payment processor or hosting provider.
- Unless the Operator acted intentionally or with gross negligence, its liability in connection with the Service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the damage occurred.
- Nothing in this article limits rights that consumer law guarantees you.
Article 13 — Suspension and termination
If you breach Article 9 the Operator will ask you to remedy it; if you do not, or the breach is serious, the Operator may restrict use or terminate the account, and refunds then follow Article 8. If the Operator terminates your account for any reason other than your breach, the fees for the remaining paid period are refunded in full, to the original payment method: the Operator submits the refund to the payment provider within 3 business days, and it takes effect once the provider approves it.
Article 14 — Ending the Service
If the Operator shuts the Service down, notice is given 90 days in advance on this page and by account email, and the fees for any paid period after the shutdown date are refunded in full. The original of your knowledge data is on your machine, so it is not lost.
Article 15 — Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes are heard by the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.
